A life at the keyboard

Rudimar Bonamigo is a concert organist and pianist with more than twenty years of experience in performance, teaching, and sacred music across the United States and Brazil. He is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance at the University of North Texas, where he studied with Jesse Eschbach.

As Director of Music at the Church of La Santa Natividad in McKinney, Texas, he plans and leads music for Sunday worship and the major feast days, directs the choir, and oversees the care of the instruments - work that grows from a lifetime in service playing, from chapels in Porto Alegre to parishes in North Texas.

His doctoral research developed the “Bonamigo measure of articulation,” a practical, data-based method that uses recorded performances to study and teach note release and touch - including how a player adapts articulation to the acoustics of a given room. In 2025 the work received a Best Student Paper Award at the International Symposium on Performance Science in Shanghai, and a full article is under review at Frontiers in Psychology. He performs on organ, piano, and harpsichord, and teaches organ and keyboard-skills courses at the university level. He reads and speaks Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish.
